KAP is a therapeutic approach that combines the use of ketamine — a legal, FDA-approved medication — with psychotherapy to support healing and growth. Ketamine creates a temporary state of neuroplasticity, opening a window for the psychotherapy I provide. Within that window, we work with both mind and body to reach what other treatments often cannot. KAP is not a standalone medical treatment — the preparation, medicine experience, and integration together are what give the work its meaning and lasting impact.
Frequently asked questions.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
In my practice, ketamine is self-administered by the client using a ready-to-dissolve (RTD) preparation, under the medical guidance of Journey Clinical, my prescribing partner. I am present with you for the full duration of every dosing session.
Journey Clinical is the medical group that handles the prescribing and medical oversight for KAP in my practice. They conduct your medical evaluation, issue your ketamine prescription, and monitor your care throughout treatment. Journey Clinical can also provide ongoing medication management, with whom I collaborate closely to support your care. Their fees are separate from mine and paid directly to them.
Psychedelic dosing uses a higher dose of ketamine to facilitate a deeper, non-ordinary state of consciousness — a more inward, immersive experience lasting up to 3 hours. Psycholytic dosing uses a lower dose that allows you to remain more conversational and verbally engaged during the session, lasting up to 2 hours with integration woven into the experience itself. The right approach depends on your clinical needs and is determined together during our preparation process.
KAP may be particularly beneficial for adults who have tried other therapeutic approaches without finding lasting relief — including treatment-resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, and chronic patterns that feel stuck. It requires a commitment to the full process. The best way to explore whether KAP is right for you is to begin with an intake session. Please reach out through the contact form to get started.
You will be in a comfortable, safe space with soft music, aromatherapy, and an eye mask if you choose. I am present with you for the full duration of the session. The experience is deeply personal and varies from person to person. There is no right or wrong way to have the experience. Afterwards we will briefly check in and I will ensure you are safe before you leave with your support person.
No — you may not drive yourself to or from a dosing session. Please arrange for a trusted person to transport you and remain available to you for the rest of the day. This is a non-negotiable safety requirement.
Integration is the process of making meaning of what arose during the medicine experience — weaving insights, emotions, and sensations into your daily life and ongoing healing. Without integration, the medicine experience remains an isolated event. Integration is where lasting change takes root. All KAP packages include dedicated integration sessions for this reason.
Somatic Experiencing®
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-based approach to healing trauma developed by Dr. Peter Levine. Rather than focusing primarily on the story of what happened, SE works directly with the nervous system — gently and at your pace — to complete biological stress responses that trauma left unfinished. The work is quiet, precise, and often surprising in how much can shift without having to revisit painful memories in detail.
Traditional talk therapy works primarily top-down — through language, insight, and cognitive understanding. Somatic Experiencing works bottom-up — starting with the body, sensation, and the nervous system. Both have value, and in my practice they inform each other. For trauma especially, the body often holds what words cannot reach.
No. While SE was developed specifically for trauma, its principles apply broadly to anyone experiencing anxiety, chronic stress, overwhelm, or a sense of being stuck. If you're curious whether SE might be right for you, the intake process is the best place to start.
Fees & insurance
I do not participate in any insurance panels. My practice is self-pay. I provide superbills — detailed receipts with the information your insurance company needs — which you can submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement. Many clients with PPO plans receive partial reimbursement this way. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits before we begin.
Please visit the Services & Fees page for a full breakdown of session rates and package pricing.
A small number of reduced-fee slots are available for individual therapy. If cost is a barrier, please reach out through the contact form — there may be a path. I am also proud to partner with Thank You Life, a nonprofit that provides financial assistance for those who cannot otherwise access KAP.
The psychotherapy component of KAP is generally not covered by insurance. Journey Clinical's fees are typically out-of-pocket, though Journey Clinical does accept some insurance plans for the medical side of care — visit their website for current information. I provide superbills for therapy sessions which you may submit to your insurance, though reimbursement is not guaranteed. Financial assistance for KAP may be available through Thank You Life.
Getting started
Begin by reaching out through the contact form. I'll follow up to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to see if we might be a good fit. From there, if we decide to move forward, we'll schedule an intake session.
The intake session is a 60-minute meeting where we explore what brings you here, your history, your goals, and what kind of support would serve you best. It's also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you have. The intake is required for all services and is billed at $250.
After the intake, I recommend beginning with three sessions before determining the best path forward together. This gives us time to establish our therapeutic relationship, clarify your goals, and assess which service is the right fit for you. The Introductory Package is $750.
I offer in-person sessions at the Medical Aesthetics of the Hudson Valley building at 166 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY, and telehealth sessions for psychotherapy clients located within New York State. As a New York State licensed clinician, I am only able to provide psychotherapy and diagnostic services to clients physically located within New York State. For those outside of New York State, I am available for consultation only.
